Description

The aim of this module is to introduce asylum and reception practitioners to the field of international protection.

 

This module provides a general overview of international protection, the key legal asylum-related instruments and the main terminology used in this domain. It explains the right to asylum, the principle of non‑refoulement, the notion of international protection and the main stages of the asylum procedure.

 

LEARNING OUTCOMES

  1. Understand the importance of the right to asylum and the principle of non‑refoulement
  2. Explain the notion of international protection derived from the EU acquis
  3. Explain the main stages of the asylum procedure and the asylum official’s role within the procedure
  4. Demonstrate a basic understanding of the eligibility criteria and of the evidence assessment
 
This module will be upgraded as part of the restructuring of the European Asylum Curriculum.
