Malta International Airport has welcomed commercial traffic for over 50 years. The present air terminal building, constructed between 1989-1991, was officially opened on 7 February 1992. The terminal is fully equipped with all
the facilities and conveniences which travellers expect from an international airport.

Transportation Information
Buses run from Malta Airport to various locations on the island including Valletta (X4 Valletta and Birzebbuga). The bus ride to and from Valletta takes approximately 25 minutes. The tickets for public transport in Malta cost € 1.50 (winter fare) or € 2.00 (summer fare) and can be purchased from the ticket vending machines, ticket counter and bus drivers who prefer to receive exact change.
Be aware that in Malta and Gozo, driving is on the left-hand side of the road. There are speed limits of 80 km/h on the open road and 50 km/h in built-up areas, unless otherwise indicated on relevant road signs.
There is a shuttle bus service that runs every 20 minutes between 17:30 and 19:30 from the EUAA offices main entrance to the Valletta Bus Terminal, normally stopping at the roundabout by bus stop A13, or at another suitable location where passengers can get off safely.
