EASO updated Quality Assurance Tool application now available

EASO develops practical guides and tools to help increase the knowledge and technical skills of practitioners working in the field of international protection. The format of the tools is constantly being improved in order to make the tools more practical, efficient and user friendly.

In this context, EASO has upgraded the Quality Assurance Tool application - a technical solution for quality assessment and assurance. The Quality Assurance Tool is a user-friendly desktop app enabling streamlined and efficient quality assurance of the examination of applications for international protection. It is focusing on two core aspects - personal interview and first-instance decision. The app can be used for various performance assessment, periodic quality reviews and thematic audits.

The upgraded application includes new functionalities, visual and practical features. Most notably the updated version includes extended reporting functionalities which allow the quality manager to analyse the overall quality of larger batches of cases. In this way, for example, the work of a specific team or unit over a set period of time, can be analysed. A detailed overview of the assessment results enables the identification of strengths and weaknesses.

The application can be downloaded.

With the same aim of making the guides more accessible, EASO has recently also published three practical guides in the html format:

  • EASO Practical Guide: Qualification for international protection
  • EASO Guidance on reception conditions for unaccompanied children: operational standards and indicators
  • EASO Guidance on reception conditions: operational standards and indicators

The html format is user friendly and convenient for users, notably by making it easier to find specific content. The content is more interactive and includes handy hyperlinks within the publication as well as hyperlinks to external documents.

Finally, we would like to offer to all users of the EASO practical guides and tools the possibility to provide feedback in a form which has been published on EASO’s website under ‘Asylum Support & Training: Practical Tools’.

The purpose of the survey is to collect suggestions for the future developments and improvements of the practical tools.

We are looking forward to receiving your valuable feedback!
