EUAA Response to the War in Ukraine

EUAA response to the war in Ukraine

The European Union Agency for Asylum (EUAA) joins the global community in condemning the unprovoked armed invasion of Ukraine.

The Agency has been working very closely over the past weeks and months together with the European Commission, other EU Agencies, as well as Member States and is also at the disposal of Member States which may be affected in order to support with the reception, registration and processing of asylum seekers in the EU.

More specifically, on 7 March, the Executive Director of the European Agency for Asylum appointed the Ukraine Emergency Response Board (UERB), in order to coordinate the Agency’s efforts to support Member States with Ukraine-related asylum and reception needs, as well as assist in their implementation of the EU Temporary Protection Directive.

In these very difficult times, the EUAA has created a dedicated page on the website, being constantly updated with up-to-date information, including information leaflets on temporary protection addressed to adults and to older unaccompanied and separated children fleeing the war in Ukraine. The Situational Update series published weekly on the EUAA website, present the latest emergency measures which have been adopted by EU+ countries to address the influx of displaced persons from Ukraine.
