On 8 November, the Migration, Asylum and Refugees Regional Initiative (MARRI) organised its annual meeting with its networks. MARRI is a regional initiative aimed at supporting migration management in the Western Balkan region.
During the meeting, the Director of MARRI Regional Centre, Mr Sashko Kocev, presented the MARRI Strategy 2018-2020.
Briefly, the strategic objectives include an efficient and effective management of the asylum procedures, both regionally and with respect to EU acquis, with a particular attention toward the protection of vulnerable migrants and the fight against human trafficking.
Moreover, all participants of the 8 November MARRI Meeting (the EU Delegation, EASO, UNHCR, IOM UNICEF, ICRC, ICMDP, GIZ, INTERPOL, PCC SEE, DCAF, UK FCO and SEM) took the floor, highlighting the future cooperation within which the MARRI framework could take form.
