EASO launched a call for 374 additional experts to be deployed in Italy and Greece. This is the largest number of experts which has ever been requested in the history of the agency. The officers, which need to be seconded from EU Member States, are to support the capacity building of the Italian and Greek asylum authorities to perform additional tasks related to the implementation of Council Decision 2015/1523 of 14 September establishing provisional measures in the area of international protection for the benefit of Italy and Greece.

The tasks of these experts will include joint processing activities, support in the implementation of relocation measures, support with the registration process and support in the detection of possible documents fraud.

The experts will play a key role in providing assistance in the hotspots and in the relocation measures which are expected to start in the coming days.
