The European Asylum Support Office (EASO) has published the newest addition to the EASO practical guides series, the practical guide on: “Researching the situation of lesbian, gay and bisexual persons (LGB) in countries of origin”. The guide provides background knowledge as well as useful tips, tools and sources for researching the situation of LGB in countries of origin. It should serve the needs of both experienced and inexperienced Country of Origin (COI) researchers, as well as caseworkers conducting COI research. Additionally, it may assist lawyers, legal aid providers and judges working in the asylum process. The Guide was co-drafted by the Organization for Refuge, Asylum and Migration (ORAM), the Dutch Office for Country Information and Language Analysis (OCILA) and the Belgian Documentation and Research Centre (Cedoca/CGRS). Various stakeholders have been involved in the peer review (Danish Immigration Service-COI, UNHR, independent academic, EASO).
