EASO caseworkers deployed in Crotone, Calabria region, are fully aware of their mission. Since January 2018, they support the work of Territorial Commission in the examination of applications for international protection; EASO caseworkers’ tasks mainly focus on litigation (Contenzioso) and COI research. They also facilitate the smooth functioning of daily administrative activities in the field and the cooperation with local organisations and stakeholders operating in the region.
With their support, the Territorial Commission of Calabria manages the examination of approximately 20 cases per week and 15 appeals per day. The main Countries of Origin of applicants for international protection are Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nigeria and Iraq. EASO caseworkers, are assisted by five Cultural Mediators, specialized in Tigrinya, English, Bengali, Bambara, French, Mandingo, Pashto, Dari, Soninke and Djula.
