New legislation obliges applicants to undergo a medical examination for diseases and illnesses covered by the Danish Epidemic Act, e.g. COVID-19. If a returnee refuses to be tested, the Danish Return Agency can request the assistance of the police and the testing may, if necessary, be carried out with the use of force. The testing is always carried out by a health care professional. |

Legislative amendments were adopted on modifying the criteria to obtain permanent residence or family reunification. The person applying for family reunification with a child, a spouse or cohabitant should, as a rule, not have been convicted of 'negative social control' in the last 10 years. The person applying for permanent residence must not have been convicted of an unsuspended sentence of at least 60 days for 'negative social control'. |

Resettlement and humanitarian admissions |
The AMIF-funded project, Establishment of a resettlement mechanism began its implementation in 2017. Until now, two study visits on resettlement programmes have been carried out. During 2020, a short video story was filmed about the integration process of a Syrian family who arrived to Croatia as a group of resettled persons from Turkey. The project also includes the development of a mobile application which provides information on the resettlement programme, arrival and daily life in Croatia. This activity is in its completion phase. |
