Successfully passed Introduction to vulnerability, Introduction to communication for asylum and reception practitioners & Introduction to ethics and professional standards OR 6 months work experience in the field AND a qualification at EQF level 5 or equivalent.

The aim of this module is to provide the necessary knowledge and skills to identify and understand the potential needs of victims of gender-based violence in asylum contexts and how to respond to them. The gender-based aspect highlights the fact that violence is often rooted in power inequalities between women and men. Although the phenomenon affects both genders, it impacts a disproportionate number of women.
LEARNING OUTCOMES

Explain the concepts of norms and non-conformity to gender norms and the potential consequences for applicants for international protection

Identify indicators of past, present or potential future gender-based violence, and the impact on the victims of gender-based violence

Analyse the potential needs of victims of gender-based violence in asylum contexts in line with CEAS

Propose actions to address the needs of victims of gender-based violence in asylum contexts
This module is delivered through a blended learning methodology (online, face-to-face and independent learning).
The assessment strategy is based on a case scenario at the end of the module related to the learning outcomes.
